And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit (John 12:23-24).
During this week leading up to the finial sacrifice for our sin, Jesus speaking, compares Himself to a grain of wheat; His death to a grain sown and decomposed in the ground, and His resurrection to the blade that springs up out of the dead grain; His manifestation and glorification to the abundant fruit of the many grains produced to sustain life. He is saying "He must die to become glorified and fruitful. I cannot establish a glorious church unless I'm glorified".
As a Believer, we too must follow this pattern He has laid out for us to produce fruit. Our Heavenly Father demands we have fruit, so He can have as much fruit from the earth as He possibly can. A Believer is a human who has been "born again". The old carnal man dies, and we take on the life of Jesus the Christ (anointed of God).
Get it? the seed falls to the ground and dies, as it starts its new life, it (the seed) grows up and soon produces more like itself.
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit.3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:1-5)
