And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given (Mk. 4:24).

As Jesus was in a house in the Galilee region, teaching things concerning The Kingdom, His brothers and His mother came and were standing outside because there were a great multitude of people in and around the house who were LISTENING to Him teach. Those around Him began to interrupt Him during His teaching saying, “Your mother and brothers are outside seeking you”. His reply was a question. “Who is my mother? Who is my brothers? He went on to say “I’ll tell you who my mother and brothers are, THOSE WHO DO THE WILL OF GOD”! (par. Mk.3:20-35)

Then in chapter 4, as He came out from the house and went by the sea, He began to follow-up the former thought by telling a parable concerning one who sows seed in the various TYPES  of soil (degrees of hearing). There is “way side” (hard soil,, untiled). Then there is the “stony” ground. Believe me, there are lots of rocks here in Israel. Then there was the seed that “fell among thorns” (weeds, stony, untiled). But then there is the seed that falls on “GOOD” ground. This is the soil that has been prepared to receive, hungry to hear the Word of God; anticipating and excited,  ready to cause the seed that is received, to go through the process to REPRODUCE after itself.

He tells His disciples (those who have set aside their ways, traditions, own ideas, and hanging on every word He speaks) TAKE HEED WHAT YOU HEAR. So the first lesson is telling disciples that you just don’t listen to any old thing that’s being cast toward your ears.

Then He teaches: with what measure you mete, it SHALL be measured to you. The NIV says it like this: “…with the measure you use, it will be measured to you–and even more. The ESV says:…with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.

So The Lord of the Universe says there’s a spiritual law that to the degree that you enter into, or cooperate in a thing, to that degree, you will have the goodness of that thing come to you in this life.

Example:

1. To the degree of intensity that you enter into His presence through worship, of prayer, or study and meditation of His Word, that degree with intensity will manifest to you in this life time. and He will even pour more into His end than what you give Him, when He says “MORE will be given to you”.

2. To the degree that you sow time,

3. To the degree that you sow money.

4. To the degree that you show kindness, and on and on.

It’s a spiritual law that is in effect always.

Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete with it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:38).
